Environmental Justice Advocacy for a Healthier Future

Welcome to FMS Global Strategies, where we are passionately committed to the cause of Environmental Justice. Led by our visionary CEO, Paula Sardinas, a prominent figure in public policy and environmental advocacy, we are dedicated to bringing about positive change in communities disproportionately affected by environmental issues.

Championing Climate Action

At FMS Global Strategies, our commitment to environmental justice is exemplified by our CEO, Paula Sardinas. Paula is not just a leader in our firm but also a driving force in some of the most impactful climate initiatives in Washington state. Her dedication to advocating for positive change shines through her active roles on several influential boards.

Clean & Prosperous Washington (CAP WA):

Paula serves on the Board of Directors for CAP WA, an organization composed of business leaders collaborating with various stakeholders to enact smart climate policies in Washington. Their efforts focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing health and job outcomes, and fostering a competitive, sustainable economy that can serve as a model for other states.

Climate Commitment Act (CCA):

Paula's involvement with CAP WA was instrumental in helping the CCA, a cap-and-invest policy, pass successfully in Olympia. This legislation is at the core of a suite of environmental laws, including the Clean Fuel Standard and the HEAL Act, all designed to advance climate action with urgency.

Breaking Barriers Collaborative (BBC):

Paula is on the steering committee and one of the founders of the Breaking Barriers Collaborative, an organization that believes businesses have a crucial role to play in addressing the climate crisis. With a focus on equity and deep expertise in climate issues, the BBC collaborates with businesses to lead the transition to a net-zero economy.

Transportation Electrification Strategy (TES):

Paula's co-chair EV Advisory Council with TES reflects her commitment to decarbonizing the transportation sector in Washington. This sector is a significant contributor to emissions, and electrification, particularly in on-road transportation, offers a critical opportunity to reduce greenhouse gases.

Paula Sardinas's active involvement in these boards underscores our dedication to creating a more sustainable, equitable future. When you partner with FMS Global Strategies, you're aligning with a firm led by individuals who are not just advocates but also leaders in the fight for environmental justice. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on climate action and equity.

Puget Sound Zero Emission Truck Collaborative:

Paula serves as one of the 25 founding members. The transition to zero-emission drayage vehicles serving ports in the Pacific Northwest is a key step to meet zero emission trucking targets adopted in the Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy while also contributing to city and state decarbonization goals. Shifting from diesel to zero-emission trucks will also reduce a significant source of air pollution that contributes to public health risks and environmental health disparities, especially in communities living near the harbors and along major freight corridors.

MHD ZEV Working Group:

The WBBA serves as a founding member representing CoC (community of color). Paula Sardinas is a prominent founding member of the MHD (Medium Heavy Duty) Work Group, established by Clean and Prosperous Washington. With her unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and her leadership in the medium-heavy-duty sector, Paula has been instrumental in shaping the group's vision and objectives. Her expertise and dedication have been pivotal in advancing clean and prosperous solutions for medium-heavy-duty industries in Washington.

Our Commitment to Environmental Justice

Environmental Justice is the cornerstone of our mission. We firmly believe that every individual, regardless of their background or socioeconomic status, deserves clean air, safe water, and a healthy environment. Here's how we're making a difference:

Advocacy for Clean Transportation

Paula Sardinas, the founder of the nonprofit Purpose Driven Girl, is at the forefront of advocating for sustainable transportation solutions. We support pocketbook incentives for all Washingtonians, including those for electric vehicle sales, to reduce carbon emissions and promote cleaner air.

Addressing Air Pollution Disparities

We are actively working to address the unjust burden of air pollution on communities of color and tribes living along the Interstate 5 Corridor in Washington. Chronic exposure to air pollution has severe health consequences, and we're dedicated to advocating for policies that rectify these disparities.

Fighting Environmental Racism

We acknowledge the existence of environmental racism, which has contributed to the unequal exposure of marginalized communities to harmful pollutants. We are committed to dismantling systemic barriers and advocating for equal environmental protections for all.

Climate Leadership Recognition

Paula Sardinas has been honored with the prestigious David Giuliani Climate Leadership Award by The Madrona Institute. This award recognizes her significant efforts in advancing climate action and inspiring others to protect our planet. We understand the urgency of carbon emissions reduction to combat climate change effectively.

Our goal is to empower communities to demand cleaner, pollution-free transportation options. We believe that every individual should have the choice to live in a healthy environment without compromising their well-being or economic opportunities.

At FMS Global Strategies, Environmental Justice is not just a buzzword; it's a call to action. We are working tirelessly to create a future where every person, regardless of their background, can breathe clean air, drink safe water, and enjoy a healthy environment. Join us in this critical mission for a brighter, more equitable future. Together, we can make a lasting impact.

Climate Projects

Empowering Communities of Color through Cooperative Rideshares

At FMS Global Strategies, we believe that transportation should be accessible, convenient, and environmentally sustainable for everyone, especially in underserved communities. That's why we've taken bold steps to address transportation disparities through our innovative CoC cooperative rideshare program.

Rideshare Partnership with Purpose Driven Girl at Tabor 100 (site)

In Tukwila, WA, our nonprofit the Purpose Driven Girl (PDG) has partnered WSDOT with to achieve what many considered impossible – we've created our very own Communities of Color (CoC) cooperative rideshare program. This program aims to provide affordable, convenient, and eco-friendly transportation solutions for the CoC community and Tabor small business members. Our site is located at Tabor 100.

DriveHER Forward: Empowering 200 Nonprofits

We are dedicated to expanding the reach of our CoC cooperative rideshare program. To achieve this, we plan to register 200 nonprofit organizations. These nonprofits will have regular access to our ADA electric van for a nominal fee, allowing them to better serve their communities and fulfill their missions.

Our nonprofit Purpose Driven Girl provides a ADA electric van, proudly wrapped by United PSG, is a symbol of our commitment to this cause. This van is more than just a vehicle; it's a tool for positive change. It will serve as a reliable mode of transportation for Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) that focus on serving the CoC community.

Our CoC Rideshare Partnerships are a testament to the power of collaboration. We are proud to collaborate with organizations such as the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), site location Tabor 100, and CCA to make this program a reality.

The Purpose Driven Girl Rideshare Program is supported with funding from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act. The CCA supports Washington’s climate action efforts by putting cap-and-invest dollars to work reducing climate pollution, creating jobs, and improving public health. Information about the CCA is available at www.climate.wa.gov.

Empowerment & Equity

At FMS Global Strategies and Purpose Driven Girl, our mission transcends traditional boundaries. We are dedicated to creating a generation of empowered young girls and women who uplift and support one another. To achieve this, we recognize the importance of addressing systemic racism and sexism, which have historically divided and disadvantaged women and girls. Join us on our journey to empower communities, eliminate transportation disparities, and build a more equitable society. Together, we can turn possibilities into realities.
